Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC)
Cultural And Religious Appropriate Placements

Leading the Way

Advance Social Care is a specialist Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) provider, with an exceeding reputation of supporting and specialising in UASC placements. Our first young person placed with us was a UASC young person from Sudan. Since then we have been a one stop service for all UASC young people, and our packages are tailored to meet the holistic needs of all UASC young people regardless of their country, race, belief or culture. We provide asylum support, mental and emotional wellbeing support and accommodation within our semi supported group living accommodations or within our Floating Support with Accommodation provisions.

Building A Firm Base

UASC young people are likely to have experienced high levels of trauma and uncertainty. Many will have suffered from human trafficking, slavery, appalling living conditions, homelessness, witnessed unfathomable situations and suffering with mental health difficulties. UASC young people face distinct challenges in the UK due to their legal status, age, separation of birth family and loss. Young adulthood is a challenging time for UASC young people and in particular as care leavers due to their traumatic lived experiences and lack of family support structures. UASC young people have to make two very significant transitions. Firstly, to adapt to a whole new way of life, culture, lifestyle and society. Secondly, to prepare and make the eventual transition into adulthood and beyond.

A Therapeutic And Nurturing Approach

Advance Social Care is dedicated to help address these challenges, promote resilience and ensure every UASC young person achieves their potential. Working with a wide range of services who understand the challenges and difficulties UASC young people face we offer expert advice to navigate them through the asylum system and aid their integration into their new environment. We create an environment which is conducive to UASC young people, establishing safe networks that enables them to deal with the traumas they may have faced on their journey into the country. With our therapeutic and nurturing approach, UASC young people gain the stability and security they have been seeking, allowing them to invest in their placements emotionally and practically.

With the support of our diverse, passionate and caring staff, who come with a depth of knowledge and experience of working with UASC young people, all our UASC young people feel exceptional welcomed and accepted, we build a firm base for them, ensuring via our own use of translation and mentoring services they thoroughly understand where and why they have been placed with us. We have bespoke translated documents to support this, understand their culture, language and identity which sets a strong understanding for them from the onset, leading to pathways where they can believe in a bright, positive and purposeful future.

Supporting And Successfully Transitioning UASC Young People

Over the years we have built strong and trusting relationships with our UASC young people which has allowed them to flourish, build on their strengths, develop their independence skills, and really invest in their placement. We have supported numerous UASC young people who have achieved outstanding outcomes including leave to remain, re-established contact with birth family, developed their English language, significantly improved mental and emotional health, skills to deal with their traumatic experience, sought placements in college, sought employment, become extremely independent through our support, and live within appropriate geographical areas that reflect their culture, religious views and communities. We have transitioned several UASC young people to their own independent accommodation post 18.
